About Me
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
In trying to remodel my house in eco-friendly materials, I found there are many resources available, but it took too many clicks and time to find the products in my area. I originally started this blog to share my research in San Diego, but as with most blogs, it has led to a nationwide resource directory with a focus in California.
My goal: One Click Does It All! It’s a difficult challenge in blogsphere, but I’m learning as a total non-techie. Please be patient with me and eventually it will all come together.
That said: Welcome to my blog, please feel free to comment or pass on any information or make suggestions on products.

I love your site. New Zealand has a reputation for being clean and green, but even kiwis can learn a lot from this information! I will pass it around to all my friends, as most are constantly beavering away at their building projects. Kiwis are very DIY types of people. Likewise, I will no doubt find some NZ solutions which I shall bounce your way as well. Here at Waiotemarama Falls Lodge we do a lot of hunting, trapping and planting to preserve the native forest and birds.

GOING GREEN GETS A LOT EASIER IN SAN DIEGO
WITH LAUNCH OF COMPREHENSIVE GREEN WEBSITE
San Diego, California—July 14, 2008. San Diegans now have a comprehensive online source to find all relevant, local green information with the launch today of http://www.SanDiegoLovesGreen.com, announced Co-founder Dawn Parker-Waites. “Our goal is for the website to be the leading guide for local green and sustainability information; a powerful force in supporting the green movement; the source for finding local green businesses and central hub for eco-conscious residents to connect, get involved and make a difference,” says Parker-Waites.
SanDiegoLovesGreen.com has been designed to offer San Diegans an interesting, hip and fun place to find green businesses (with over 30 different business categories), to read fresh, compelling articles and local green news stories, to leisurely shop for eco-friendly and fair trade products and to get involved with others using interactive features including message boards, polls, classifieds, and article comments and ratings. The website’s free bi-monthly newsletter provides the most up-to-date green news, tips, event information, involvement opportunities and discount offers from local green businesses.
According to Parker-Waites, the website will include information on such important local green issues as recycling, disposal of hazardous household wastes (like batteries, paint cans and compact fluorescent light bulbs), conservation of water, energy incentives and programs, advice on greening homes and information on local green businesses and what they are doing for the environment.

“Beyond the usual ways of going green—recycling, water conservation and energy conservation—SanDiegoLovesGreen.com wants to show the community how easy and fun it can be to go, be and live green,” she says. “Many people may already do things in their day-to-day lives to help the green movement and they don’t even realize it. We’re just here to show them how easy and rewarding doing a little more can be.”
The green movement has always been of great interest to the website’s founders. “For as long as I remember, it has been in my heart to live an environmentally-conscious life,” states Parker-Waites. “I grew up on 20 acres in Montana and always had reverence for the Earth.”
Together with fellow social change activist and green business owner, Tawnia King, the two formed Earth Hugger Ventures LLC which serves as the parent company for the SanDiegoLovesGreen.com portal. “Making greener choices has become a focus in all aspects of my life,” explains King. “Some choices have occurred because they just make more sense—if a product is better for the environment, it’s usually better for us as well.”
Parker-Waites notes that, the new website was also created to unite all San Diegans behind the one cause that transcends race, religion, age, gender, sexual orientation and political affiliation—our environment!
“With this new green website,” she states, “we are also committed to help the local environment and the planet as a whole.” The owners have pledged a percentage of the website’s profits to local organizations working on achieving an environmental impact. In addition, for every 1,000 San Diego residents who register on the website, SanDiegoLovesGreen.com will adopt and protect an acre of rainforest in Costa Rica.
Founded in 2008, SanDiegoLovesGreen.com is the comprehensive online source for all things green related in San Diego.

Thanks for much for including Dogwood Alliance in your list… we are based in NC and work across the entire Southern US - Virginia to Louisiana and everywhere in between. Nowadays we are still focused on our forests, specifically working to end unsustainable industrial forestry practices associated with paper production. Our main public campaign is focused on fast food packaging and you can find more information at http://www.nofreerefills.org
