I got this comment about cardboard boxes and how to Rescue for Reuse. Considering the fact that Craigslist has at least 6 people giving away moving boxes- this might be a good opportunity to collect and resell!

Went to Used Cardboard Boxes to check it out! This is what they say:

“Please help us keep the trees in the forest and boxes off our streets! If you are a business that collects at least 1,000 of the same size quality used boxes on a monthly basis, we can often purchase your boxes at a higher rate than your existing recycler. If you would like to see if we are able to purchase your boxes, please complete the form below. We will contact you within three business days, if we are able to purchase your boxes”

Rescue, Resell, Recycle™

UsedCardboardBoxes.com takes an innovative approach to providing low-cost, earth-friendly moving boxes. We “rescue” truckloads of quality used boxes from large companies that might otherwise recycle them or simply throw them away. We bring the boxes back to one of our regional distribution centers where they are inspected and sorted by size and shape. Boxes that meet our strict requirements for quality, shape and strength are pre-packed (along with convenient accessories) into our low-cost, earth-friendly “stacks” and “kits”. We then “resell” those boxes to customers all across North America, via our website. We offer free shipping on any residential order and guarantee delivery in 1-2 business days. As we like to say, “you don’t have cut down a tree to make a used cardboard box!”

UsedCardboardBoxes.com strives to be a zero-waste company. We “recycle” any boxes that don’t meet our strict quality, shape and strength criteria by sending them to a traditional recycling company. UsedCardboardBoxes.com is a win/win/win/win/win: for our suppliers, customers, employees, shareholders and the environment!

Many people think using a cardboard box once and sending it to the traditional recycler is the most responsible way to help the environment. In fact, we feel that most boxes that are sent to recycler are actually being prematurely terminated! The process of recycling cardboard boxes requires a great deal of energy, chemicals and emissions that have their own negative impact on our environment not to mention all the trees that still have to be cut down to make new boxes (even if they are advertised as containing some recycled content). At UsedCardboardBoxes.com, we feel strongly that is it better to reuse a cardboard box at least once, before it is sent to a traditional recycler. By offering quality used cardboard boxes for less and providing free shipping anywhere in the US, we help our customers SAVE TIME, SAVE MONEY, SAVE TREES™ .

Also Try Boxcycle- BoxCycle makes listing, buying, and selling used boxes simple and efficient while providing buyers with lower prices and sellers with higher returns. There are no upfront fees; BoxCycle only makes money after successful sales by deducting a commission before remitting proceeds to the seller.

Great post! I used this company for my last move. I HOPE I don’t have to move again any time soon, but I would DEFINITELY use them again. I went to their site, selected the 2 bedroom kit and it arrived THE NEXT DAY. Had all these great boxes, tape, paper, a marker, etc. Boxes were great (had tape on them, but great) and were about 1/2 of what those “highway robbers” charge at retail stores. Have you seen the prices at the UPS store??? Ugh! Great company. Green and cheap! Two great things.

I own a liquor store and have lots of boxes and will also collect other boxes from other stores in area. Can I make money this way? How do I get these boxes to you?

Also consider BoxCycle, the marketplace for used boxes. BoxCycle makes buying and selling used boxes easy, convenient, and profitable while offerring maximum environmental benefits.
