Anke Domaske is a 28 year old biologist and fashion designer who makes clothes from a very unusual fabric, milk yarn. Calling it QMilch She has come up with an easy and environmentally friendly way to extract fibres from milk and her designs are proving very successful.

Absolutely loved this vintage 1950′s video on Bizarre Hats based upon kitchen appliances. We did Reuse Graters, but look at molds, teapots and a few more. Can use these ideas to invent your own Hat Fashions.

The difference is a customer can track their contribution after the purchase. The premise is simple: Choose (pick your style) Act (Pick your Project) and Check (Follow the progress of your project.)

If you think about it, the average soldier has at least 6 uniforms between field and dress and they are in the service for x amount of years, that is alot of uniforms going into landfills and trash after the service time is done. One of the best ways that you can re-use and recycle old uniforms is to make into a purse, a diaper bag and even an old quilt.

Living as a green blogger in southern California, I basically live in flip flops, from cheap to expensive. Upcycled Clothing- Green And Save With Rose’s Rags

I just finished my 26th annual clothing exchange to benefit battered women. For some reason this year, it really struck me about the amount of excess we Americans accumulate over the course of a year. This year was a small group yet I had over 30 extra large Trash bags full of clothing, most like new, some never worn and most of all will never be missed by those who donated. The sad part is that even though those closets were cleaned out, they will be filled up by the same time next year.

Worldwide, the textile industry uses 1.3 million tons of dye and 7 million tons of chemicals and water plays a big part in infusing the fabric with the dye or chemical and/or rinsing off the excess
The average American throws away 68 pounds of clothes and textiles every year.
1/3 pound= The amount of chemical (pesticides and fertilizers) is used to grow enough cotton for 1 T-shirt.
47% of chemicals used to grow cotton are ‘likely, probable or known’ human carcinogens.
67 Million Annual bird deathes attributed to pesticides.
2.5 Billion pounds of post consumer textile wasted taken from the waste stream every year by the US textile recycling industry.

For those who get bored or grow out of their clothes, they can be donated or up-cycled into a new look. Rose Rags on Etsy, an aspiring up-cycling fashion designer from San Diego, is reusing stuff from her moms and grandmothers closet into fresh new looks.

I have always felt that if a man is going to wear a tie, have it make a statement. So for Fathers Day, make an eco statement and buy your Dad a reclaimed wood tie. Made in the USA, Wood Thumb is a start up company based in San Francisco. and they are very cool. If my father was still alive I would be buying one!

From a redwood beam. The redwood sat in a salvage yard, remembering the days when it held up the roof of an old barn in Northern California.
