With all the hoopla on off shore drilling, will it work? According to this chart from Architecture 2030 - it may not be the solution.
Personally speaking the best solution is to use less oil- drive less, buy less stuff, get rid of plastic bags and a host of other things to lessen our dependence on oil, [...]

Is it better to use wood that is readily available than spending time, energy, shipping and gas looking for either reclaimed or FSC certified wood?
